Introduction to detail specification
MIL-DTL-83528F
Detail Specification MIL-DTL-83528F defines the general requirements for electrically conductive elastomer
seals for microwave shielding applications.
Different classes of materials are specified according to the type of conductive fillers (Cu/Ag, Al/Ag...) and
mold (silicone or fluorinated silicone).
Example:
Material type B = silicone loaded with Al/Ag particles, providing a shielding efficiency of 100 dB at 10 GHz,
with a continuous working temperature of -55°C to +160°C.
Detail Specification MIL-DTL-83528F thus defines the functional requirements to be met by electrically
conductive elastomers, particularly in terms of electrical performance (volume resistivity), resistance to
electromagnetic pulse (EMP), microwave shielding, working temperature range and mechanical properties
(hardness, elongation and strength at break...).
For more than 50 years, Getelec has developed its own conductive mixtures meeting the requirements of
this specification.
Getelec control the volume resistivity of its products for each manufacturing method according to the
standard procedure.
GETELEC internal measurement of the volume resistivity with
pressure probe:
Equipment:
• pressure probe with gold-plated electrodes,
• four-wire milliohm meter.
